Children's Museum of Phoenix | Strategic Planning | Capacity Building

The Challenge

The Children's Museum of Phoenix is a nationally recognized as one of the top children's museums in the country.  The Museum's relatively young age belies its success.

To sustain the Museum's success and growth, it was in need of a multi-year Strategic Plan.

The Process

Kim worked with the Museum's Leadership Team and Board of Directors to develop a comprehensive Five-Year Strategic Plan.

Through the capacity building process, comprising of self-assessments, program evaluations, market analyses and peer benchmarking, Kim analyzed the data and clearly communicated valuable insights to the team.

As a result, the Museum gained a deeper understanding of the market, historical data and national-peer performance and was better prepared to set strategic priorities, weigh competing alternatives and make well-informed decisions.

This led to the development of an in-depth Strategic Plan that included expanded programs, exhibits and space.

The Result

"With the plan in place, the Museum is well on its way to achieving its goals in attendance and membership , which will result in a 60% growth in earned revenue and 20% growth in contributed revenue.

The result is a positive bottom line with cash reserves and plans for expansion."

"Even though Kim's work with the Museum has been that of a consultant, our Board of Directors and I consider Kim a vital member of our Museum team."

"Personally,  value Kim's thoughtful input and analysis as she continues to guide the Museum through the Strategic Planning, Capacity Building and Financial Management process.

She is vital to the Museum’s success and we look forward to our continued partnership.

I would not hesitate to recommend Kim Hartmann."
