Salt River Project (SRP) | Capacity Building

The Challenge

In 2017, the Salt River Project (SRP) Board of Directors approved the SRP 2035 Sustainability Plan, a comprehensive set of sustainability goals that address five priority areas: 


1) carbon emissions reduction 

2) water resiliency 

3) supply chain and waste reduction 

4) gird modernization and 

5) community engagement.  


In 2018, the Board challenged the SRP Sustainability Policy and Programs (SP&P) team to secure feedback from a diverse cross-section of community stakeholders.

The Process

The SRP SP&P team engaged Kim to design and facilitate a series of inclusive community stakeholder meetings over a six month period to solicit feedback on the SRP 2035 Sustainability Plan.  


These community meetings included two large comprehensive stakeholder meetings representing a diverse cross-sector of community members, as well as, five smaller deeper-dive advisory group sessions including a diverse cross-section of community leaders and domain experts.

The Result

The community stakeholder participants rated the overall stakeholder process a 5.0 on a one to five scale of satisfaction.

The six month community stakeholder process resulted in the successful advancement of a community improved and Board approved set of revised SRP 2035 Sustainability Goals.
